Only a couple of hours ago, we reported that the upcoming Volkswagen Polo GT 1.2 TSI will come equipped with a 7 speed DSG transmission. Now, a set of spy pics of the car have surfaced on the cyber space and we now have a better idea of what the upcoming variant of Polo would offer.
Speculations are abounding that the Polo GT would be launched in the end of this month. The Polo GT would become the first turbocharged petrol B-segment hatchback in India. The car will also become the first B segment hatchback in India to have a 7 speed DSG transmission. The car will be the logical successor to the now defunct Polo 1.6 petrol and would be visually similar to the recently launched Polo SR edition. This means that the car would come with a similar body kit, dual tone interiors and brushed metal floor pedals. Other additions include the GT and TSI badges. The car would also come with SR’s smoked headlamps and a roof spoiler.
Powering the Polo GT 1.2 TSI is a 1.2 litres turbocharged petrol motor with a max power of 105 Bhp and peak torque of 175 Nm. The Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI will become the flagship variant and will come with a price tag of around INR 7.5 lakhs.
It is an easy guess that Volkswagen India won’t be expecting high sales from the upcoming variant. Instead, the Polo GT will be aimed at showcasing the technical prowess of the carmaker in producing high performance and modern cars that cater to a niche segment that consists of driving enthusiasts.
