Volkswagen India to launch Vento TSI on October 3, 2013

Volkswagen India seems to be on a roll. After launching the Polo GT TSI, Polo GT TDi and the Cross Polo in a very short time gap, VW India is set to launch the Vento TSI on October 3, 2013.

According to the good folks at OnCars , a source from the German auto giant informed them that VW is launching the Vento TSI in October. This is infact a move towards the automakers plans of phasing out naturally aspirated engines completely from their stable, about which we reported in detail  here this week.

This TSI engine will be the same 1.2 litre motor from the Polo GT TSI. It will replace the 1.6 litre naturally aspirated engine in the Vento. VW discontinued the Polo 1.6 just before the launch of the Polo GT TSI.

As is the case with Polo GT TSI, the Vento TSI will also be mated to the 7 speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG). This 1.2 litre block churns out 105 PS.

VW recently gave a minor facelift to the Vento, so we can expect that there would be no changes except a GT badge at the front and the rear to differentiate it from the other Ventos. The Vento GT TSI is a very good option for the buyer in the market for a AT sedan in the 9-11 lakh price range. As the Honda City AT has been discontinued for the time being, buyers have a good reason to buy this VW.

We can safely expect a minor price bump for the TSI.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the Vento GT TSI.
