Upcoming BMW sub 500cc bikes to be built in India at TVS plant

It has emerged that BMW Motorrad intends to launch a range of  sub 500cc motorcycles within next three years. While we expect to soon have some official details on these models, rumour mills suggest that upcoming series of small capacity Beamers could include a naked and an adventure bike. As per Lee Nicholls, BMW Motorrad’s UK head of marketing. the upcoming bikes could have an engine capacity of less than 250cc!

The upcoming range of Beamers would be manufacturerd at TVS Motor Company’s manufacturing facility in South India and good chances that India would become the first few markets to get these motorcycles. While these bikes would b e developed keeping in mind emerging markets such as that of India, the sub 500cc motorcycles would also be sold in Asia.

The advent of upcoming motorcycles would bring an all new dimension to BMW Motorrad’s product portfolio. It may be noted that currently, BMW’s lowest-capacity bike is the G650GS. The upcoming motorcycles could take the fight straight to KTM’s low capacity Duke models.

All these details were given by Nicholls during the press unveiling of the 1200cc BMW NineT in Munich. This bike celebrates the bike maker’s 90th anniversary.

We expect that more details will  be revealed later today and stay tuned to Motoroids for more info on the upcoming Made in India sub 500cc BMW motorcycles.
