Upcoming 2014 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer spotted sans camouflage

The upcoming 2014 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, the erstwhile BMW 1 Series GT, was recently spotted sans camouflage during the shooting of its promotional video.

It was back in September 2012, in Paris, that German premium car maker BMW showcased the highly publicized Active Tourer concept. The Active Tourer is basically the concept avatar of the upcoming 2 Series Active Tourer and as can be seen in these spy pics, the styling of the soon-to-be-launched production  model stays true to the design study that we say more than a year back.

The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is slated to become the first front-wheel BMW model and will be available in both five-seat and seven-seat layout. Basically, the upcoming BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be a Mercedes-Benz B-Class adversary and we won’t be too surprised if the Indian subsidiary of the Bavarian auto maker decides to bring it to our shores, of course to rival the B Class.

As we said above, the upcoming BMW 2 Series Active Tourer will be a Front Wheel Drive model. It will be underpinned by the car maker’s new UKL platform and the car is most likely to get a range of three cylinder, 1.5 liter TwinPower Turbo gasoline and diesel engines. These engines will be shared with the new gen MINI cars and while the gasoline engines have power outputs ranging from 122 HP to 224 HP, the oil burners have max power outputs ranging between 82 HP and 184 HP.

Don’t be too surprised if BMW decides to officially unveil the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
