The 2017 Skoda Rapid facelift, after weeks of hiding, has finally come out in the open before a November 3 launch. The most significant change, as can be seen, lies in the visuals; all concentrated up front. The frontal redesign is in line with the European Rapid and the current generation Fabia. The updated mid-size sedan gets an edgier, sharper grille, while the headlamps have grown and sharpened up as well, accommodating projectors and DRLs now. The new front bumper is Octavia-like, with large fog lamps and a mesh grilled intake. Nothing’s changed elsewhere, apart from revised tail lamp graphics and a new rear bumper.
Booking for the new Skoda Rapid have commenced; the token amount is INR 25,000.
Inside, the Rapid facelift will continue with a dual-tone black-and-beige color scheme. While the dashboard design, seats and door trims will be unchanged, expect revised seat fabrics and new floor carpets. Equipment wise, the range-topping variant will feature a touchscreen entertainment system with the MirrorLink and Bluetooth support, GPS navigation and reverse camera. As for mechanical upgrades, the Rapid facelift will get be powered by the updated 1.5-litre TDI engine that debuted on the Ameo, paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG transmission. In its current state of the tune, the engine make 110 PS and 250 Nm. As for petrol power, the 1.6-litre engine will be available a well, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
