After much waiting and feverish speculations (especially about the pricing) Honda finally launched its middleweight touring tool, the CBR650F, for the Indian market. From a manufacturing standpoint, the CBR650F is the flagship product for the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, touted as Honda’s ‘Make-in-India’ premium sports tourer. As of now, the CBR650F will come draped only in the Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) inspired racing Red, White and Blue tri-color paint and will be sold exclusively through the network of ‘Wing World’ dealerships across 12 cities.
The CBR650F is powered by a 649cc, 16 valve DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine that delivers 87 PS of power and 62.9Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) operates with information from four separate throttle body sensors on 32mm throttle bores. The CBR650F is equipped with a 4-2-1 short exhaust for mass centralization.
The CBR650F’s headlight and white LED position lamps should offer good illumination
Honda Ignition Security System (H.I.S.S) – a proprietary electronic anti-theft device
Clip-on handle bars adds sportiness to the bike’s character
320mm double disc brakes at the front, with ABS as standard
Short, right side-swept 4-2-1 exhaust maintains the mass centralization
Braking duties are performed by 320mm double petal discs upfront and a 240mm single petal disc at the rear. ABS comes as a standard fitment.
The CBR 650F also gets Honda’s Ignition Security System (H.I.S.S) – a electronic anti-theft device that automatically disables engine starting by means of electronic control. The moment the rider removes the ignition key – H.I.S.S. switches-on. Right next to the key-hole is the instrument cluster on the CBR650F: a mixture of digital speedometer, digital bar tachometer, dual trip meter, digital bar fuel gauge and a digital clock.
The Honda CBR 650F is priced at Rs 7,30,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) and Rs 7,60,970 (ex-showroom Mumbai). Honda will provide a premium experience to CBR 650F customers through its exclusive sales-service shop-in-shop network of ‘Wing World’ dealerships across 12 cities (New Delhi/Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kochi, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar).
