Tata Motors have been shifting gears of late, with a resolved focus on its passenger car business. The company’s recent offerings like the Bolt, Zest and Tiago have been a far cry from typical Tata cars, with impressive design, features and performance. Taking a step further in the direction of improving its processes and products, Tata Motors today inaugurated its Global Delivery Centre’s (GDC) new facility in Pune.
The new facility, situated at the ICC Devi Gaurav Technology Park was inaugurated by Mr. Guenter Butschek, CEO and MD, Tata Motors, with senior management from Tata Motors, JLR and other Tata Motors Group companies in attendance.
Spread across a massive 50,000 square feet, the new GDC facility has been set up to streamline business processes and achieve cost optimization goals for Tata Motors. The facility will focus on conceptualizing and deploying shared services strategies for Tata Motors Group. The GDC will help Tata Motors scale up its operations across global locations in 12-15 months.
Tata Motors brought together the GDC in 2013 with a team of 120 memebers, which has grown to almost 600 professionals, delivering to over 160 business processes. GDC has won several awards in the shared services domain in India as well as at international level in the past year.
While the HQ for the GDC is located in Pune, the company function has its presence in locations including Mumbai, Jamshedpur, Lucknow, Dharwad, Pantnagar and Sanand. The Global Delivery Centre supports as many as 12 Tata Motors Group companies including JLR, Tata Marcopolo, TAL, Tata Technologies, TML Drivelines and Tata Motors Finance.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. C. Ramakrishnan, Group Chief Financial Officer, Tata Motors, said,“As part of continuing efforts to stream line our business processes, GDC is a critical function central to the business delivering SLA based transaction services, transforming business processes and analyzing transactional data to develop and deploy data models for better decision support. We are delighted to inaugurate the new state-of-the-art Global Delivery Center in Pune.”
