Hosur based Indian bike manufacturer TVS Motor Co. has tasted great success with its Apache range of motorcycles. The Apache is one of the only few bikes that have been successful in leaving a dent in the sales of the highly popular Bajaj Pulsar and such is the popularity for this TVS model that it outsells its Bajaj rival in certain pockets. However, the bad part is that of late, the manufacturer has been very clear with its intentions of not bringing a performance motorcycle to us anytime soon. While it did showcase the very tasty Draken concept at the AUTO EXPO 2014, it was at this very event that it clarified its plans of staying focused on commuter segment of Indian bike market. While in no way do we condemn the bike maker’s plans of bringing out more low end motorcycles, we do feel sad about its decision to stay away from the performance segment.

Now, the current flagship model from TVS is the very capable Apache RTR180 motorcycle, which comes across as a performance packed product with value-for-money pricing. Quite obviously, the next step for the bike maker would be to come with at least a 220cc offering with performance figures matching those of current 220-250cc products. And the very fact that TVS has already worked on concept bikes like the Draken makes us believe that hoping for a 300cc-plus TVS model won’t be being a tad too optimistic. Our friend Oberdan Beazzi shares this belief with us and has come up with a rendering of the 300cc-plus TVS bike we dream of. This is not the first time Oberdan has visualized a TVS product. Earlier, he came up with speculative renderings of TVS 633R Concept, a supersport model for TVS Motor Co. The TVS 360 Crossover concept from Oberdan could make for a good TVS KTM 390 Duke rival and we really wish TVS gets serious about bringing performance oriented motorcycles, like the one in the rendering here, to us. Here is what Oberdan says about his TVS KTM 390 Duke rival-

A proposal marked TVS for the near future! Soon the Indian market will see an increase in engine displacement and a much more modern and attractive design. At the recent show in New Delhi have already clearly notice the first signs! Who is not going to be ready, with good products, is likely to be out of business! TVS could be a player with a motorcycle of 360cc. looking crossover, that will satisfy Indian bikers.  More usable and comfortable than a pure track bike and less spartan and rude than a off road. What do you think?”

We so want TVS Motor Co. to come up with something like this. What about you?

  1. The Duke is one hell of a bike. It’s less a bike and more of an animal. The way it unleashes itself with the slightest twist of the throttle is to be experienced to be believed. The design of this TVS is a bit boring. Nothing new!!!

  2. That was back then mate, there wasn't so much of a competition in the market and also may be TVS didn't have all it needed to be successful, but it's not the thing now, they have BMW by their side now and most probably by 2015/2016 they will be having their first 300cc bike rolled out, it's confirmed already by them. . . So you gotta wait a little longer to ride one of them. . .

i wouldnt get much excited. Back in 2006 (i dont recall the year very well) TVS had showcased a 250cc concept bike named Taurus. Till date they didnt manage to get that 250cc thing rolling outa their factory. God alone knows what kept em from doing that. Especially when demand for 250cc was strong.
