The 2014 Honda City sedan had lured 9000 buyers to put their money on the car even before its official launch in India. This news has forced the South Korean car maker to introduce a CX variant of the Verna Fluidic Diesel. The new variant will be positioned between the EX and SX variants.

The recently launched 2014 Honda City, with its aggressive pricing, has given nightmares to its segment competitors. Three years ago, the Honda City was the segment leader, and lost the title to the Fluidic Verna from Hyundai.

The new 2014 Hyundai Verna CX will be available with the 1.4 liter CRDi engine, which also powers the i20 diesel. This liter turbo diesel engine has a max power output of 89 bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque. This engine is currently available on the base and EX variants of the Verna diesel.

Christened the CX, the new variant will bridge the gap between the base and the EX variant of the diesel Hyundai Verna. The higher variants of the Verna diesel are equipped with the 1.6 liter turbo diesel engine which produces a max power of 126 bhp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. The petrol Hyundai Verna gets the 1.6 liter VTVT petrol engine which is good for 121 bhp of max power and 155 Nm of peak torque. Both the diesel engines are mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox, while the petrol engine gets a 5 speed manual gearbox. Also, the 1.6 liter petrol and diesel engines are available with a 4 speed automatic gearbox.

The Hyundai Verna CX Diesel’s features list includes:
• 2 DIN Audio with Bluetooth
• Steering mounted audio controls
• Automatic climate control
• ABS+EBD
• Twin airbags
• Electric adjust and automatic folding functions for wing mirrors
• Rear parking camera and parking sensors
