Drunk Delhi girl cries for help just to have fun

A drunk girl in Delhi kept the local police busy as she cried for help from a moving car. But, to the law administrator’s surprise, it was later found that she had cried for help “just to have fun”. At times when the crime rate against women is on the rise, such foul cries may distract the authorities from the real trouble. The trio, the girl and two of her friends, were let off without registering any case.

The fiasco began when the Police Control Room received a call informing that a girl was shouting for help from a moving vehicle. The vehicle was going towards Dhaula Kuan and the traffic cops were quick to respond by installing barricades.

The vehicle was soon intercepted from the registration plate and two men, identified as Sonu and Joginder, were immediately detained. In police custody, the boys confessed that they were friends with the girl and she had cried for help just for fun.

Speaking about the incident, a senior police officer said, “It turned out to be a bogus call. The girl and the boys were friends and they were drunk. They were returning from a party and just for the sake of fun, the girl cried for help. They were let off and there was no case registered.”

While it was an incident of a foul cry, Delhi police’s quick response is commendable. The three policemen — Sub Inspector Sanjay Panghal, head constable Ravinder and constable Balraj — were rewarded by the commissioner for prompt action.
