American motorcycle manufacturing company Big Dog Motorcycles, specialising in custom-made cruisers and choppers, has initiated Indian operations with the launch of their  K9 Red Chopper – 111. Priced at a staggering INR 59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the K9 is a 10-foot long, chrome polished monster powered by an 1807cc, 45-degree V-twin from S&S Superslider.

Power is transmitted through a six-speed transmission and on to the rear wheel by a belt drive, while the custom motorcycle tips the scales at a pavement crushing 475kg. The  K9 features a 250mm rear tire, 41mm telescopic front forks and a 39-degree stretch, capped with a sweeping steel one-piece tank. Braking is taken care of by discs at both ends held by 4-piston calipers.

The K9 Red chopper – 111 or ‘One of One’ is built under the aegis of Kansas Motorcycle Works (KMW) that rekindled Big Dog. For the price, you get sheer exclusivity, as Big Dog offers at least 69 paint and graphic options and a wide selection of accessories, including custom seats, exhausts, grips, storage bags, sissy bars and windshields.

Samar JS Sodhi, Founder Big Motorcycle Company, said, “For decades, I was planning to get this motorcycle here in India and now finally my dream has come true. I believe that this motorcycle will attract the right rider who is looking for a unique, ‘one of one’ custom chopper which will make its presence felt on the road, and guess what this is completely street legal in India.”

“I am extremely delighted that this ‘one of one’ custom made motorcycle is now in India. Once you take a seat on the Big Dog Motorcycle, you will know what makes for ultimate comfort. The chopper’s beastly growl will make your ears stand on end,” Sodhi added. Big Dog Motorcycles was founded in 1994, and claims to be the largest production-custom motorcycle manufacturer in the world, having delivered over 30,000 motorcycles across the globe.
