The folks who are all prepped up to lay their hands on the fastest Pulsar ever, the VS400 (earlier named as CS400), will have to wait for some more time as Bajaj Auto has postponed the launch of the motorcycle to a future date. When inquired about the launch of the 400 cc Pulsar during an interview to CNBC-TV18, S Ravikumar, President-Business Development, Bajaj Auto said, that the two-wheeler maker has pushed the Pulsar launch to a later date and that the Company is concentrating on feeding the festive demand.

Ravikumar told CNBC-TV18, “The entire industry is looking at a good set of numbers and there is a lot of activity which is happening there in the supply chain and the factories and we thought that this is very important. So, we are now concentrating deliberately by design. We have pushed the Pulsar launch to a later date, exact date we will announce a bit later, but right now, this and next month, we are going to be concentrating on feeding the festive demand.”

While the two-wheeler maker hasn’t given any fixed launch date, we expect the VS400 to ride into the showrooms early next year (2017). Once launched, the Bajaj Pulsar VS 400 will be the fastest Pulsar ever with maximum power output of 25.74 kW or 35 HP at 8,000 rpm produced from its 373.2 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that’s believed to be closely related to the KTM Duke 390’s engine. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Other features of the Pulsar VS 400 include:

  • 332 kg gross weight
  • Full-LED headlamps (a first for an Indian motorcycle)
  • Split, fully digital instrument cluster
  • Mono-shock at the rear
  • ABS, (most probably an optional feature)

The Pulsar VS 400 is expected to carry a price tag of INR 1.8 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the standard model while the ABS equipped version will come at a slight premium. Stay tuned for more updates. Do let us know your views about the motorcycle through the comments section below.
