Upcoming Tata Tiago EV To Get Selectable Regen Modes, Cruise Control And More

Tata is set to reveal the Tiago EV on the 28th of September. The Tiago EV will not only be the cheapest EV offered by Tata but also the cheapest EV for sale in India once launched. Now, Tata has teased some features for the EV. Interestingly, some of these features are not even offered in the Tigor EV. Let’s take a look at these features:

The Tiago EV will get a Sports mode which can be selected via the rotary knob in the center console. This is similar to the Sports mode offered by the Tigor EV. It will also come with selectable regen modes. The regen system helps in recharging the battery while driving and having the option of selecting the degree of regen helps in tweaking it according to the different driving conditions. For example, a low regen setting can be used for highways to avoid abrupt slowdown whereas the highest regen setting can be used for driving in traffic or even for single-pedal driving. The Tiago EV will come with Cruise control which the Tigor EV misses out on.

Lastly, it will be offered with white leatherette seats which will lend a premium feel to the cabin. The white seats also indicate that the Tiago EV could get a light shade of interior theme. Though Tata hasn’t revealed any other details regarding the Tiago EV yet, we can assume that it will be similar to the Tigor EV considering that they both share the same platform. Expect a new exterior color in the shade of Blue. It is also expected to get a bunch of light Blue contrasting elements for the interior and exterior. In terms of powertrain, the Tiago EV will share it with the Tigor EV. The Tigor EV comes with three powertrains including the ones found in the Tigor X-Press T which is used for commercial purposes. The Tigor X-Press T comes with an electric motor that produces 41hp and 105 Nm of torque.

It comes with two battery pack options. The 16.5 kWh version delivers 165km of claimed range and the 21.5kWh battery pack delivers 213 km of claimed range. The more powerful Tigor EV with Ziptron technology comes with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that produces 75hp and 170Nm. It gets a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack that delivers 306km of claimed range. It also gets fast charging capability.
