Toyota recently launched the new Corolla in the Indian market. Above the Etios sedan, Toyota directly has the Corolla in its sedan line-up. To bridge this gap, Toyota has confirmed the launch of Vios in the Indian market. The Toyota Vios will be slotted between the Etios and the Corolla.
According to a report, Toyota India will be launching the Vios in the second quarter of next year. The Vios is a baby Corolla and will lock horns with the Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Hyundai Verna and the Volkswagen Vento. Toyota already sells the Vios in Thailand as the sedan version of the Yaris hatch.
On the outside, the Vios has been equipped with projector headlamps, LED tail lamps and LED DRL’s. The car measures more than 4.4 meters. Powering the petrol variant of the Vios will be a 1.8 litre dual VVTi mill giving 140 PS of max power and 173 Nm of peak torque. This engine will come with a 7-speed CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission. The oil burner Vios will get the same 1.4 liter turbocharged motor which powers the Corolla. This motor churns out 88 PS of max power and will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
