Maruti Suzuki India is all set to rock the market with its brand new SUV Vitara. This new SUV will enter the market on 20th July. Representing Maruti’s flagship this car will be sold by the Next premium outlet of the company. The Vitara will be a Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder-based mid-size SUV. Vitara will replace the long-running model of the Maruti S-Cross which was first launched in 2015.

Vitara will be Based on Suzuki’s Global C platform, the same as Suzuki S Cross, Brezza, and Hyryder. The wheelbase and dimensions of this new SUV are predicted to be similar to the Hyryder. Suzuki’s identical design will also be followed in the Vitara. The front of this car will have LED headlights with LED DRLs, LED taillamps, and a healthy dose of cladding all around. The exterior of the Vitara will get enhanced by front and rear silver skid plates and 17-inch alloy wheels. While the interiors are expected to share a lot of parts with Hyryder.

The cabin will have extensive use of leather for the upholstery and inserts. It will be equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Other tech features will include Arkymys sound tuning and 55+ Suzuki Connect connected car features including remote vehicle ignition. The Vitara will also have ventilated leather seats, a 7-inch MID, push-button start/stop, automatic climate control, a heads-up display, a 360-degree parking camera, a panoramic sunroof, and an auto-dimming IRVM.
Maruti will most likely differentiate between the mild Hybrid and strong Hybrid variants by giving different interior themes for both. The Vitara will be powered by the same engine as the Toyota Hyryder. The first engine will be a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid unit producing 101 Hp and 136 Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The other engine is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated Atkinson Cycle engine delivering 92 Hp and 122 Nm of torque. Although it is a front-wheel drive as standard across all variants, the mild hybrid manual variant can be paired to an All Wheel Drive powertrain with selectable terrain modes.

This engine is paired with an electric motor that produces 79 hp and 141 Nm of torque. The total output produced is 115 Hp and it can also come with an e-drive transmission. This system is paired with a 177.6 V lithium-ion battery which will provide an electric-only range of up to 25km to Vitara. It will also help Maruti in achieving best-in-class fuel efficiency.
