SPIED: Tata Safari Storme facelift’s interior will make the Bolt feel smug

2015 Tata Safari Storme (3)

The Tata Safari Storme is a tall vehicle and that might just become a problem for potential owners of this face lifted model that could hit dealerships soon. The trouble is, if a high perched Storme driver happens to peek inside a Zest or a Bolt’s cabin while waiting for red to go green, that sight is sure to turn a lot of thoughts crimson inside his head. In these clear images, the soon to be launched Tata Safari Storme facelift has been snapped carrying a 3-spoke, smaller steering wheel from the Zest/Bolt with integrated controls. However, the bird that couldn’t migrate over is the modern Harman infotainment system found on the hatchback and the compact sedan. Instead, the face lifted Storme gets a silver finished 2-Din entertainment system with CD/MP3/Radio/Aux/USB and iPod connectivity.

The centrally located time piece has gone missing, faux wood inserts have given way for shine and the cancer stick lighter has shifted over to the center console. However, what might bring a smile is the way this new Storme might drive. It will be powered by a 2.2-liter Varicor engine that is rumored to pump out 154 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, which is 16 bhp and 60 Nm more in comparison to the older model. Transmission unit continues to remain a 5-speed box and changes on the outside are in the form of a new grille, air dam and maybe some chrome bits here and there. We hope the mechanical changes are good enough to shadow the bits on the inside, unless this is a variant that will be positioned at a lower price point.

  1. Tatas should just exist car making. I thought they will be sensible after acquiring JLR, but they are only ruining the original safari. Never will I go for a tata vehicle.
