Royal Enfield is set to electrify its iconic lineup with the launch of its first production electric motorcycle in fiscal year 2025. CEO B. Govindarajan has confirmed the development, hinting at a distinctive design and a fast-charging fixed battery system.
The move marks a significant step for the renowned motorcycle brand as it enters the burgeoning electric two-wheeler market. Previous concepts like the electric Himalayan and the electriK01 have offered glimpses into Royal Enfield’s electric vision. While the company has explored swappable battery technology, it appears the inaugural model will feature a fixed battery setup.

Internal developments suggest two primary electric motorcycle projects are underway. The first, inspired by the rugged Himalayan, represents a future-forward take on adventure touring. The second, a more immediate focus, is a lightweight, urban-centric model reminiscent of classic designs, potentially rivaling the Maeving RM1.
Recent trademark filings point to potential names for the upcoming electric motorcycles: “Royal Babe-E” and “Flying Flea.” The latter, in particular, has been a subject of multiple trademark applications by Royal Enfield’s parent company, Eicher, since 2020. With these developments, Royal Enfield is poised to redefine electric mobility while staying true to its heritage of classic motorcycle design.
