New Hero MotoCorp Maestro Edge
Hero MotoCorp officials have confirmed that the two-wheeler maker will phase out the Maestro scooter from it product portfolio. The move is aimed to end the royalty payments to Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India. The new Maestro Edge, a product which has been completely developed by Hero MotoCorp, will continued to be sold in the 110cc scooter segment.
The Hero MotoCorp Maestro was powered by a Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India developed engine which is also used on the Activa 110. The Activa sourced 109cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine produces 8.2 PS of power and 9.10 Nm of torque and comes mated to a CVT gearbox
The new Maestro Edge, which will take over Hero MotoCorp’s product portfolio in the 110cc segment, gets an all new engine. When compared to the outgoing model, the motor on the Maestro Edge delivers slightly higher power, albeit with marginally lower torque. The 110.9cc air-cooled, 4-stroke single cylinder OHC engine delivers 6.20 kW or 8.31 bhp of power at 8000 rpm and 8.30 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm ( against 8.04 bhp / 9.10 Nm of the Maestro).
While the standard model gets twin parking lamp, and remote fuel lid / seat opening while the top of the line VX variant gets a USB charger and under seat storage illuminator. Read more about the new Maestro Edge in our detailed review here.
