It has emerged that Nissan India, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese auto maker, is close to launching the automatic variant of the Sunny C segment sedan. The launch of the Nissan Sunny Automatic comes a few months after that of the Scala Auto. It may be noted that the Renault Scala is basically a re-badged Sunny with a different front fascia.
Powering the Nissan Sunny Auto is a 1.5 Liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that has a max power output of 99 Bhp and peak torque figure of 134 Nm. The engine will be mated to a CVT automatic gearbox.
It is being said that the Automatic gearbox will be offered only on the high end variants of the Sunny sedan and would command a premium of around INR 80000.
The diesel variants of the Nissan Sunny won’t get an automatic gearbox anytime soon. The diesel variants are powered by the popular 1.5 Liter K9K turbo diesel engine that does duty in many cars worldwide.
