Maruti Suzuki Baleno Cross Spied Yet Again!

We recently got to take our first look at the upcoming Maruti Baleno Cross. However, we were only able to take a look at its rear. Thanks to fresh spy shots, we can take a look at the front end of the upcoming crossover. The Baleno Cross is expected to launch next year and it will be positioned below the Brezza. Let’s take a look at it:

Codenamed YTB, the crossover will be based on Maruti’s Heartect platform. Expect it to grow in width and height when compared to the Baleno while still remaining under the sub-4-meter mark to gain the excise benefits. The ground clearance will be increased as well and the raised ride height is clearly visible in the pictures. The front is dominated by a large honeycomb grille which is expected to be finished in chrome. We can expect its lighting setup to be similar to the new Grand Vitara with the LED DRL being placed higher up and the LED headlights being placed lower down on the bumper.

Other expected design elements are a healthy dose of black cladding all-around, front and rear skid plates, and a shark fin antenna. Though we haven’t had a chance to look at the interior yet, we are sure that it will be reminiscent of the newer Marutis with a familiar dashboard and materials. Expect the YTB to be loaded with features such as a 9-inch Smart Play Pro+ infotainment system with Suzuki Connect, cruise control, a color MID, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, auto-folding mirrors, automatic headlamp, auto-dimming IRVM, heads-up display, and a 360-degree parking camera.

Expect the interior space and boot space to be on par with the Baleno. Details regarding the powertrain of the YTB are not clear yet, however, we expect Maruti to bring in the Boosterjet engine. This 1-liter 3-cylinder turbo petrol motor produces around 110 hp and 160 nm of torque in the international spec Swift. Expect the engine to get the mild-hybrid treatment to boost its fuel efficiency. Maruti could also offer the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated K12N engine from the Baleno. Transmission options will include a manual and an automatic.
