The Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV has been spotted testing many times throughout the last month and now the company has shared an official teaser of its first electric SUV. The XUV400 will be revealed on the 8th of September. As the upcoming Mahindra Born Electric SUVSs will be making their debut in 2024 onwards, the early entry of XUV400 will kickstart Mahindra’s EV journey.

The official teaser shared by the company shows a newly designed grille and Mahindra’s twin peaks logo finished in Copper. This indicates that the XUV400 will be a part of Mahindra’s XUV.e brand. Other than this, the X elements on the grille are finished in dual tone Black and Bronze. The teaser also shows the charging port. Unlike the XUV300, the XUV400 will be larger in size and positioned in the mid-size SUV segment. It will compete against the likes of the Tata Nexon EV Prime, Nexon EV Max, and MG ZS EV.
The claimed range of this SUV is expected to be above 400 km to give tough competition to the current E-SUVs in the market. The powertrain will be handled by a single motor and two-wheel-drive setup. Expect the power figure to be around the 130hp to140hp mark. Although the company has not revealed any other information about the specification or the price range, we can expect it to start with a price tag of less than ₹15 lakh (ex. showroom). The introductory price will match the criteria of the government to make the car eligible for the Union government’s FAME-II scheme for subsidies and other incentives.
To dominate the EV industry with its electric SUV lineup Mahindra has already made strong plans. The XUV400 will be out soon and will open the way for other Mahindra E-SUVs followed by the next launch of XUV.e8 which will be the E-version of much loved XUV700. The other EVs are set to make their debut one by one starting in 2024. The new EVs will be based on Mahindra’s new INGLO EV platform using Volkswagen’s MEB platform components. The platform offers class-leading safety standards, exhilarating performance, excellent range and efficiency, exemplary driving dynamics, versatility, and an intelligent Human Interface.
