If you noticed a bunch of Mahindra employees (3,000 to be precise) standing across the stretch of Marine Drive during your morning walk, here is what they were celebrating. Indian car manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra recently achieved a milestone of producing 50 lakh vehicles. To celebrate the occasion, 3,000 employees of the company formed a human chain stretching from Air India Building, Nariman Point to Girgaon Chowpatty in Mumbai.
Mahindra & Mahindra recently announced its monthly auto sales numbers which stood at 36,328 units during December 2014, as against 39,611 units during December 2013. The Passenger Vehicles segment (which includes UVs and the Verito) sold 17,311 units in December 2014, as against 16,436 units during December 2013, registering a growth of 5%. The company’s domestic sales stood at 34,460 units during December 2014, as against 36,881 units during December 2013. In December 2014, the Truck & Bus division of the company sold 843 units, registering a growth of 92%.
