Hyundai Reveals Its 2024 Tucson Facelift: Gets New Interiors

Korean automaker Hyundai launched its flagship SUV – the Tucson, in India just over a year ago. This is set to receive a facelift in 2024. This refreshed model showcases subtle design modifications and enhanced features, bringing updates to both its exterior and interior. Let us take a look at what is new in Hyundai’s 2024 Tucson.

2024 Tucson: Refreshed Design

In this fourth generation of the premium D1-segment SUV, the midlife facelift introduces tweaks to its design. While maintaining Hyundai’s distinctive “Parametric Dynamics” design language. Notable exterior changes include a squared-out and more 3D-looking redesigned grille, along with revamped inserts. And sleeker, flatter hidden parametric jewel DRLs. The front bumper portrays a more muscular appearance with a larger air dam and an integrated faux skid plate. The specifics of the rear profile haven’t been unveiled. But Hyundai says that a wider bumper with integrated skid plate can be expected.

2024 Tucson: Revamped Interiors

Moving inside, the Tucson facelift reveals a revamped dashboard layout. The gear selector has been relocated from the center console to a stalk on the steering column. Updates to the AC vents and steering wheel accompany the integration of the 12.3-inch driver’s display and touchscreen infotainment system into a panoramic curved display, creating a more cohesive appearance. The center console now houses rotary dials for AC settings, a smaller knurled knob for the Bose sound system volume, physical buttons for AC functions, USB Type-C ports, a 120V socket, wireless charging pad, and storage cubbies, along with two cup holders ahead of the front seat armrest.

Expected Features

Regarding features, while details remain limited, the expectation is that the facelift will retain previous offerings and possibly add new ones. Speculations point to continued provision of dual-zone temperature control, a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, powered seats, a panoramic sunroof, an air purifier, powered boot opening, multiple airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, and level 2 autonomous driving capability.

Powertrain Options

Engine trims for the updated Tucson haven’t been officially disclosed, but it’s anticipated that both the 2-liter petrol and diesel engines will remain. The 2-liter petrol engine outputs 154bhp and 192Nm torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Meanwhile, the 2-liter diesel churns out 184bhp and 416Nm torque, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai may also offer all-wheel-drive system on the diesel variant with various terrain modes and drive options.

Expected to arrive in India in the latter half of 2024, the facelifted Korean SUV will compete with SUVs like Volkswagen’s Tiguan, Jeep’s Compass, and the Citroen C5 Aircross in the 5-seat SUV segment.
