Bridgestone is working on a newly developed tyre printing method that does not use the age-old white rubber printing method. This new technology instead forms a layer of newly developed inks on the tyre and this layer also protects the tyre from losing its colour and also helps marginally increasing the longevity. Now, the idea is that the customers can customize the required tire models and can get desired graphics printed.
It may be noted that the whitewalls consume a lot of white rubber and add to the weight of the tires. Now, the new technology helps in keeping the weight under the check and also aesthetically enhance the tires. However, it remains to be seen how much of a premium these tires command over the conventional tires.
