Bajaj Acquires Naming Rights To Vincent Motorcycles

The classic motorcycle segment has always managed to amuse fans, especially in India. And from that list, one of the most popular classic Motorcycle brands is Vincent known for its speed and power. As the news of Bajaj auto owning the rights for the Vincent name which was previously owned by the Dave Holder & Family is going on, it also appears that Bajaj has taken over HRD and Egli-Vincent brands. Vincent was a British company owned by Philip Vincent who then took over the HRD and started making bikes as HRD Vincent.

The Vincent company got popular with its 1948 bike Vincent Black Shadow which was the fastest of its time. The Vincent Black lightning also broke records by becoming the most expensive 2-wheeler when it got sold for ₹6 crores in 2018 and only 31 units of this model were produced. Black Shadow also recorded 241.9 km/h, where it was given the name of “The Bathing Suit Bike” as the bikers’ clothes were almost stripped during the ride.

There is speculation that Shankar Ramanan ordered a special black shadow to India and set a speed record at Juhu Aerodrome near Mumbai. Although the company has not provided any official information on this, the Vincent trademark was seen under the Bajaj properties, and rumors also say that HRD and Egli-Vincent are also now under the Bajaj property. There is no news on if the Vincent brand will make a speedy motorcycle under the Bajaj name or will continue with Bajaj bikes rebranded under the Vincent name.

Although there is no certainty in what Bajaj Auto is planning on, we can expect similar settings as Jawa and Yezdi have with Mahindra to appear in the Vincent and Bajaj scenario too. Bajaj Auto is already going strong with its current lineup in the country but with this takeover, Bajaj will move towards dominating the market with a wide range of 2-wheelers as these classic motorcycles with speed can out in front of Royal Enfield and other classic bikes.
