We reported in detail when popular Indian bike maker Bajaj Auto Ltd silently launched a new variant of Discover in Indian bike market yesterday. While the silent launch surely comes across as a surprise to us , we aren’t really complaining about the fact that an average Indian commuter bike buyer just got even more spoilr for choice.

It may be noted that Bajaj has always been pretty vocal about its plans of launching as many as four new variants in the Discover range of bikes this year.

Elaborating on the company strategy, a senior Bajaj official said, “The year 2012-13 saw the launch of a new range of Discovers. The top-of-the range sporty Discover 125 ST was launched in May 2012, followed in January 2013 by the Discover 100 T. The New Discover 125 T now completes the range and gives the consumer a range of options in terms of price and performance points. Brand Discover promises a lot more in the commuter segment, by retaining its superior product differentiation against competition.”

He added, “This new range has firmly established Discover as the ‘Biggest, Fastest & Most Stylish’ motorcycle in the commuter segment. From the numbers perspective, the new range alone has sold over 450,000 units nationally since launch. We are confident that the new Discover 125T launch will further boost brand Discover to higher sales and market share.

Here is all that you need to know about the new Bajaj Discover 125T

The latest variant, which has been christened as the Discover 125T, can be seen as a Discover 125ST minus few frills.

Powering the new Bajaj Discover 125T is the same 125cc, 4-valve, twin-spark engine that powers the 125ST. This engine has a max power output of 12.5PS@9000RPM and a peak torque of 10.8Nm@ 6500 RPM.

The biggest difference between the 125T and the 125ST can be found in the rear suspension setups. While the 125ST employs a mono-shock suspension at the rear, the 125T makes to do with a more conventional gas filled twin shock absorbers.

The new Bajaj Discover 125T will be sold in both disc brake and drum brake variants, with a starting price of INR 52,500/- (ex showroom, Delhi). The disc brake variant adds another INR 3000 to the above figure. The Bajaj Discover 125T will be seen bridging the gap between the Discover 100T and the Discover 125ST and is a part of bike maker’s plans to spoil the exec-commuter bike buyer silly with choices and confusing him enough to make him stick to Bajaj line up of bikes. A la Maruti Suzuki? Definitely.

Discover 125 T will be available in four colors – Flame Red, Brilliant Blue, Midnight Black (Red decals) and Midnight Black (Blue decals).

Highlights of the Discover 125 T:

  •  Patented 124.6 cc with 4-valve DTS-i engine
  •  12.5 PS power
  •  Top Speed of 105 kmph
  •  Torque of 10.8 Nm for amazing pulling power

  2. I have a bajaj 125t but it give me only 45 kmpl, and it also start to vibrate when i want to increase my pick up above 55km.so i am very disappointed with this bike.

  3. Thanks man ! i own 125t, because it’s back seat is more comfortable than 125st for family purpose. Now i am little bit in trouble regarding tyre thickness. Should i change them to zapper ? Will it reduce mileage and handling.
