VIDEO: Rider gets rear-ended and still retains his calm, even checks up on the driver

Motorcycle accident

It is not uncommon to hear about a downed motorcyclist. And, it is definitely not uncommon to hear about one being involved in an accident with four-wheelers. However, ever heard of a motorcyclist being at the bad end of a three/four car pile up? How about we tell you that the rider didn’t even suffer a scratch? This rider in Canberra, Australia, not only got hit by one, but the equivalent of at least three cars!

Matthew Sant, the rider involved, was caught up in a traffic jam in an 80km/h zone just outside the city of Canberra. When he witnessed vehicles ahead of him grinding to a pause, he too reduced the speed of his bike. But before coming to a full halt, he had the presence of mind to move to right of his lane after checking his rear-view mirror. He presumed that the driver of the car behind him might not be paying much attention to him and his bike. However, this car driver was paying attention to the biker and also came to a stop. What Sam didn’t know at that point, was that his minor alteration in course earlier, would change the outcome of the whole incident.

What follows next, is a three (could be four) car plus one motorcycle pile up, a result of the last car not braking in time. The rider gets thrown up in the air and ends up landing on the bonnet of the car behind him. But he walks away with no injuries and even brings forth his courteous side, asking the visibly shaken car driver if he’s hurt. Now that’s true sportsmanship. That said, what isn’t very sporty or courteous about this incident, is that not one person came up to the rider to see if he was alright. This video clearly proves that every motorcyclist needs to have his wit with him and approach any ambivalent situation with absolute caution.
