Hyundai Motor India is all geared up to take an extra step to market their product port folio. A few days ago the automaker collaborated with two well known Indian music artists to promote the Elite i20. With new promotion strategy, Hyundai India is also planning to get the much awaited SUV Tucson to India in this year. Reports suggest that the company will also get another premium offering with it; we assume the Hyundai Elantra.

The new Hyundai Tucson made its India debut at the 2016 Auto Expo held in February at Greater Noida. Powering the SUV might be a 2.0 litre CRDi diesel engine, capable of delivering 179 Bhp of peak power and 400Nm of max torque. It will also feature Hyundai’s Active On-Demand AWD system and a six-speed automatic transmission. Also, the petrol variant will draw power from a 2.0-liter MPi engine with 154 Bhp of power and 196 Nm of torque.

The Hyundai Elantra will be available with 3 engine configurations – 1.6 litre GDi, 2.0 litre MPi petrol, and 1.6-litre VGT CRDi diesel engine. The petrol powered engines will come strapped with a six speed manual transmission as standard and a six speed automatic as an option. The diesel will get a 7 speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

For now the launch dates of these vehicles are not known but reports suggest that it will happen this year only. On launch the Tucson will go head on with the likes of Toyota Innova and Fortuner. The Elantra will lock horns with the Volkswagen Jetta, Toyota Corolla Altis, Skoda Octavia, and the Chevrolet Cruze.

  1. It’s a great news but only if Hyundai follows the #MakeInIndia route for these cars else they’ll be priced higher than competition bcz of higher CBU duties. Don’t want the same results as ill fated Santa fe.
