This modified Premier Padmini is undoubtedly one of India’s best restomods

This Premier Padmini restomod from Kerela is one of the best hacks made to the iconic car. Modifications done include a custom built, integrated wide-body kit, with noticeably flared wheel arches to accommodate the wider footprint – the modified vehicle now rides on fatter, low profile rubber wrapped around some tasty alloy wheels emulating the period, wire spoke effect.

Both the original bumpers have been shaved off for a cleaner look, while the original grille has been revamped with twin chrome signatures against a mesh background, with a large Fiat logo being the cherry on top. The original headlamp holes have now been filled up with after market illumination with circular LED DRLs, while a custom chrome strip runs across the front fender and abruptly ends on the front door.

As for paintwork, the owner chose a shade of deep blue for the body and off-white for the roof. Twin stripes of white run across the hood, while at the rear, there’s a custom exhaust tip. More modern ORVMs go in place, though we would have loved to see some old-school, circular ones dipped in chrome. The tail lamps, door handles and the rest of bodywork have been left alone.

The interiors are re-trimmed with faux leather (?) swathes across the entire dashboard, while the new bucket seats look cosseting indeed. There’s a retro-fitted air-conditioning system, a more contemporary touchscreen infotainment system and a new steering wheel. The door trims are trimmed in faux leather as well. There’s no word on performance modifications made, although a freer flowing exhaust and an air filter are said to be in place.
