MG Windsor PRO Announced: More Tech, More Range, More Competition

Quick Overview

  • MG Motor teases a new variant of its best-selling electric car: the Windsor PRO
  • Promises upgrades in tech, safety, convenience, interiors, and battery performance
  • Will rival the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and Hyundai Kona Electric

MG Motor is turning the wick up on its electric game. After winning hearts (and parking spots) with the Windsor, India’s first “Intelligent CUV”, the carmaker is now getting ready to roll out its snazzier sibling – the Windsor PRO. And yes, it comes with more of everything: more tech, more convenience, and a bigger battery.

What to expect?

To be launched under the new JSW MG Motor India banner, the Windsor PRO aims to ride the momentum created by the standard Windsor, which has quietly become one of the highest-selling EVs in its segment. While exact specs remain under wraps, MG promises serious upgrades across six fronts – Tech, Safety, Interiors, Convenience, Style, and Battery.

That could translate to features like a larger infotainment screen, more connected car tech, enhanced ADAS, a reworked interior layout, and an extended real-world range. The outgoing Windsor’s claimed range hovered around 400 km, so expect the PRO to push that envelope further.

Other changes

Visually, the PRO is expected to carry forward the Intelligent CUV design DNA, blending SUV practicality with sedan-like comfort. But it may get new wheels, updated LED elements, and a few style tweaks to set it apart.

Under the hood (or floor, rather), MG might throw in a bigger battery pack with faster charging capability. Rumors suggest a range closer to 450-470 km, which would help it stay competitive against segment stalwarts like the Tata Nexon EV Long Range and Mahindra XUV400 EL Pro. Let’s also not forget Hyundai’s Kona Electric, which continues to hold its ground with a premium badge.

MG hasn’t revealed a launch date yet, but with the teaser already out, an official unveil might be just weeks away.

Final Thoughts

With the Windsor PRO, MG seems to be following the age-old mantra: “If it ain’t broke, just load it up with more features, call it PRO, and watch it fly off the showroom floor.” That said, this could very well be the version that convinces more fence-sitters to go electric—especially those who want their EV with a little extra everything. Now, let’s just hope they throw in ventilated seats. You know, for the full PRO treatment.
