Monterey Car Week served as the stage for the long-awaited unveiling of the BMW M5 Touring. Marking a triumphant return after a hiatus of over a decade, the iconic super-estate has once again captured the imagination of automotive enthusiasts.

Faithful to its Sedan Counterpart
Introduced initially in 1992 with the E34 M5, the new M5 Touring adheres closely to the dimensions of its sedan sibling. A modest 6mm increase in height is the sole departure from the shared length and width. The wheelbase and track, measuring 3,006mm, 1,684mm, and 1,660mm respectively, mirror those of the sedan.
Uncompromising Performance
Under the hood lies the same potent 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 engine as its sedan counterpart, delivering an exhilarating 717bhp and a staggering 1,000Nm of torque. This powerhouse propels the M5 Touring from 0 to 100km/h in approximately 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 248km/h that can be elevated to 304km/h with the optional M Driver’s package.

Design Blending Form and Function
The M5 Touring’s design is a harmonious blend of athleticism and practicality. While retaining the distinctive flared rear wheel arches of the sedan, the Touring’s rear doors remain unchanged, subtly influencing the vehicle’s profile. Vertical reflectors on the rear bumper and a tastefully integrated roof spoiler enhance the car’s aerodynamic efficiency and visual appeal.

The interior is a haven of luxury and technology, featuring a 12.3-inch driver display and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen powered by iDrive 8.5. The M Multifunction Seats, upholstered in Extended Merino Leather, offer exceptional comfort and support. A range of interior trim options, including aluminum rhombicle, BMW Individual Dark Oak fine woodgrain, or M Carbon Fiber, caters to diverse preferences.
Pricing and Availability
The 2025 BMW M5 Touring is poised for a late-year launch. With a starting price of USD 121,500 (approximately Rs 1.02 crore) in the US, plus an additional destination and handling fee, the Touring commands a premium of USD 2,000 over the base M5 sedan. Production will take place at BMW’s Dingolfing plant. While the M5 is expected to grace Indian shores, the availability of the M5 Touring in the Indian market remains uncertain.
