Royal Enfield’s aggressive expansion into new motorcycle segments continues, with the latest development being the first-ever sighting of a Himalayan 650 prototype undergoing rigorous testing. These spy shots suggest the adventure bike is in its early stages of development.
Captured by Motorbeam near Royal Enfield’s Chennai plant, the heavily camouflaged test mule is distinguishable. While specific details remain hidden, its overall shape suggests a motorcycle designed for adventure riding.

At its core, the Himalayan 650 is expected to feature the familiar 648cc parallel-twin engine, already proving its mettle in the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, and Shotgun 650. While the 47bhp and 52Nm output might remain unchanged, potential tweaks to gearing and engine mapping could optimize performance for off-road conditions.
The prototype showcases premium components such as fully adjustable USD front forks and a single-sided upswept exhaust, further hinting at its adventure-focused character. Dual front disc brakes provide enhanced stopping power.

Despite heavy camouflage, the Himalayan 650’s silhouette hints at a fresh design featuring a new front fairing. The rear end draws inspiration from the Himalayan 450, with shared elements like the split seat, rear grab handle, and integrated taillight indicators. Overall, the bike presents a sleek and streamlined appearance.
