Maruti Suzuki Celebrates 1 Million Automatic Vehicle Sales

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has achieved a significant milestone by crossing the 1 million mark in automatic vehicle sales. As a pioneer in automotive innovation, Maruti Suzuki has played a pivotal role in popularizing two-pedal automatic car technology in India.

Maruti Suzuki Automatic Offerings

The automaker currently offers four distinct automatic transmission systems, including Auto Gear Shift (AGS), 4-speed Automatic Transmission (AT), Advanced 6-speed Automatic Transmission (AT) with Steering Mounted Paddle Shifters, and Electronic-Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT), encompassing 16 models to cater to the evolving needs of discerning customers.

In 2014, the company introduced AGS technology, which garnered instant and overwhelming customer acceptance. Today, a significant portion of automatic vehicles sold by MSIL, amounting to 65%, is equipped with AGS technology. Models with AT automatic transmissions make up 27% of total MSIL automatic sales, while the Hybrid e-CVT transmission accounts for approximately 8% of MSIL automatic sales.

Maruti Suzuki AT Sales Contributors

Key regions contributing to Maruti Suzuki’s automatic car sales include the Delhi & NCR region, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, and Kerala. The 5-speed AGS gearbox is available in models such as Alto K-10, S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, Ignis, Swift, Dzire, Baleno, and Fronx. Additionally, the 4-speed Automatic transmission is offered in the Jimny and Ciaz. The Advanced 6-speed Automatic transmission with Paddle Shifters can be found in models like the Fronx, Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, and Grand Vitara. The e-CVT technology is exclusively available in the Intelligent Electric Hybrid models of the Grand Vitara and Invicto.
