The company’s efforts to reduce energy consumption has led to 9 GJ/ton of finished tyre in 2022. This was the lowest in India and among the lowest 3 in the world. Low-carbon strategy is the path JK Tyre follows & considers the basis of its future growth.

Credit rating agency CareEdge rates JK Tyre as ‘Best-in-Class’ and a leading company in the tyre industry. It believes in producing more with less as the foundation of environmental responsibility and is working on reducing energy intensity.

The manufacturer has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by a whopping 57% in a period of eight years. Furthermore, it is also extensively evaluating newer, greener, and thus, sustainable materials and processes. JK Tyre is driven by goals of zero waste to landfill, single-use plastic, and zero effluent discharge.

It has the lowest water consumption in the tyre industry across the globe, with less than 2 KL/ton of consumption. With a target to satisfy 75% of its energy through renewable sources in the coming 5 years’ time. The company is already achieving 53% of its energy needs with the help of sustainable sources.

Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director – JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. said, “The company’s focus is to work on substituting energy needs with renewable sources. In this direction, JK Tyre is meeting its fair amount of thermal energy requirement through other sources replacing coal. All these efforts have significantly curbed the carbon emission in its processes and enabled to reduce the emission intensity by almost 57% in the last 8 years to meet the aim of being the greenest company. JK Tyre is now amongst the most energy-efficient tyre manufacturers in the world”.

The company is also working towards, alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. With a fair amount of focus on the goals of human rights, anti-corruption, and upholding of labour interests.
