300 KM On A Single Charge?

Ultraviolette has had their F77 under development for almost three years now. Backed by TVS and EXOR Capital, a Ferrari stakeholder, Ultraviolette is gearing up to launch their first product on November 24th. Ahead of the launch, they held an event – “Ultraviolette Battery Day” to showcase the final version of the battery pack that will be used in the production of electric motorcycles.

Official Statement

Speaking at the Battery Day ‘22, Narayan Subramaniam, Co-Founder and CEO, Ultraviolette stated, “When we set out to build India’s first high performance electric motorcycle, we knew right from the beginning that battery tech, and design would be one of the most critical aspects in making the F77 one of the most anticipated and desirable electric vehicles in the country. We are immensely proud of what we have achieved over the last 5 years and are able to bring in the best from aerospace, aviation, and consumer electronics to create the most advanced electric motorcycle in India, by every standard. We have always believed that we can create world-leading technology and design here in India, and we hope that the benchmark set by us is a starting point in the development of cutting-edge technologies and reliable electric vehicles by many.”

Niraj Rajmohan, Co-Founder and CTO, Ultraviolette added, “We have invested equal amounts of time and energy into the R&D of the F77’s battery as much as into the development and design of the motorcycle. We have gone through five generations of battery development and 14 generations of BMS advancements as a result of our unflinching commitment to developing the most robust and reliable power architecture of any electric vehicle in the industry.”

The Battery Pack

In 2019, Ultraviolette showcased the first prototype of the F77 which used a removable battery pack that housed 18,650 cells. For the final version the F77 will get a non-removable Li-ion battery that houses 21,700 cells which together make up for 10.5 kWh of capacity. This makes the UV F77 the first electric two-wheeler with such a large battery pack. In fact, this battery pack is 2.5 times higher than the EVs that are already sold in India. Once launched, the F77 will be the highest capacity electric two-wheeler with the maximum range.  The claimed IDC range is 307 km on a single charge which is the highest for any electric two-wheeler in India.

Booking Details

The Ultraviolette F77 will be launched in three colours – Airstrike, Shadow and Laser. Bookings for the EV begin on 23rd October 2022 at ₹10,000/- and will be limited to 10,000 bookings. The company currently has a production capacity of 15,000 units for the first year which will eventually scale up to 1,00,000 units per year.
