Mercedes Benz E220 CDI Avantgarde Launched in India @ INR 42.1 Lakhs

Mercedes Benz India has lost out to both BMW and Audi in Indian car market. While the car maker says it isn’t all that bothered by the downfall, it plans to launch a number of new variants and cars in the rapidly developing Indian car market. Yesterday, we posted in detail about the upcoming Mercedes Benz A Class that is close to being launched in our country and now, it has emerged that the car maker has silently slipped in a new flagship variant of its E220 CDI luxury sedan. The new Mercedes Benz E220 CDI Avantgarde features a seven-speed G-Tronic automatic transmission, an Eco Stop/Start mode, three-spoke steering, new design alloy wheels, twin exhaust tailpipes and a 5.8-inch infortainment screen in addition to all the features present in the Elegance trim level.

The new Mercedes Benz E220 CDI Avantgarde  continues to be powered by the 2.2-litre common-rail diesel engine that pumps out a decent power output of 170bhp.

The new car is priced at Rs 42.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). The launch of the new E220 CDI Avantgarde has happened soon after the discontinuation of the E 250 CDI which shared the engine with the recently launched ML 250 CDI. It is believed that the high demand for the new M has led to shortage of the 250 CDI oil burner. This, in all probability, is the reason for the discontinuation of E 250 CDI.
