We reported in detail when Austrian motorcycle manufacturer officially revealed images and specifications of the KTM 1290 SuperDuke. Without beating around the bush, we would want to say that the new Super Duke R looks poised to become the most scintillating Katoom ever.
The new KTM 1290 Super Duke R is powered by a 1301cc 75 degree V-twin engine which cranks out max power of 180 bhp @ 8870 rpm and peak torque of 144 nm. Such is the torque curve that a full 100nm is available from as low as 2500 rpm. For those of you who requre acceleration figures to get excited- the new Kiska designed streetfighter is capable of hitting 200 kph from zero in a really scant 7.2 seconds. Where dem supercars are?
The good folks at MCN recently took a KTM 1290 Super Duke R prototype out for a quick spin and have uploaded this really brief ride review of the new Katoom. As can be seen in this video, the chaps at the popular publication are might impressed with the latest KTM’s engine and have used words such as ‘extraordinary’ to describe it. They are also appreciative of the three riding modes that the bike offers. MCN says these change the bike’s response quite a lot. They further add that while the bike is certainly among the naughtiest they’ve ever ridder, it is very friendly in street mode.
