Tata Tiago off to a good start; gets 15,000+ bookings

Tata Tiago Sunburst Orange (7)

It’s been quite a fight for the Tiago, and it has fought well. After being mired with nomenclature issues and a postponed launch, the Tiago was finally launched in April 2016. Now, it seems that the Tiago is indeed living up to the promise of being the first step of cure for Tata Motors’s passenger car division’s ailing fortunes. According to a recent report, the Tiago has already amassed 15,000+ bookings, along with 1,00,000 enquiries – a well deserved feat. This news comes after the report that the Tiago sold 3,022 units in the month of April 2016, making it the best-seller in the Tata Motors stable for that month.

With aggressive prices starting from INR 3.39 lakh, the Tiago, earlier known as the Zica, undercuts immediate competition by a fair margin, yet offering more car for the money. Designed adhering to the manufacturer’s new-found IMPACT design philosophy, the Tiago is available in both petrol and diesel options. While petrol power comes from a 1.2 litre Revotron engine (83 bhp, 114 Nm), diesel twist comes from the newly developed 1.0 litre Revotorq engine (69 bhp, 120 Nm). Both engines are strapped to a 5-speed manual transmission but an AMT is expected to be offered soon. Top-end trims come with colour coded interiors and a punchy Harman infotainment system.
