The KTM 200 Duke and the KTM 390 Duke are easily among the most exciting propositions for an average buyer in Indian performance bike segment. Thanks to world class performance and terrific pricing, the Duke duo has quickly managed to leave a really lasting impression on minds of every biking aficionado of our country.

It has now emerged that the onslaught of new models from KTM-Bajaj is far from over!

Recently, Bajaj KTM organised an event in New Delhi, where it facilitated cricketer Gautam Gambhir with a new special edition KTM 390 Duke (Click here to read full story). The event, which was being called as a “Freewheeling & Interactive” session, saw KTM India making quite a few revelations about its future plans. It was at this very event that KTM announced that it intends to launch the 690 Duke in India. While it is nothing short of wonderful to know that the KTM 690 Duke is headed to us, we aren’t too happy about the fact that the bike won’t be here before 2015.

The KTM 690 Duke, akin to the 125, 200 and 390, will be manufactured in India and this would mean that the 690 could come to us at an ultra competitive price point.

The KTM 690 Duke is powered by a 690cc, single cylinder, 4 stroke, fuel injected engine that has a max power of 67 bhp. The motor comes mated to a 6 speed gearbox and the 690 Duke tips the scale at just 149.5 kgs (that, for reference, is lighter than a Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSI!). The bike has a 14 litres fuel tank capacity.

From the looks of it, the KTM 690 Duke is every bit a winner and we won’t be surprised if the upcoming middle weight sub 700cc machine ends up spelling terror for sellers of fully faired 650cc motorcycles in the country.

We just can’t wait for the KTM 690 Duke India launch to happen. What about you?

How much are you willing to pay for the upcoming naked monster?
