New Tata Zest: Price, Variants and Features explained

Tata Motors officially launched its much awaited compact sedan, the Zest at an event in Mumbai on August 12, 2014. The company has priced the new Zest at Rs 4.64 lakh for the base petrol variant and Rs 5.64 lakh for the base diesel variant.

Powering the new Tata Zest is a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron engine that churns 90 PS of power and 140Nm of torque. The diesel engine on the other hand is a 1.3-litre Quadrajet unit which comes in two power variants – 75PS of power with 190NM of torque and 90PS of power and 200Nm of torque.

The petrol model of the Zest will be available in four variants while the diesel will be offered in five trim levels. The pricing of the variants is as follows:

Petrol Revotron 1.2T

  • XE (Base): Rs 4.64 lakh
  • XM (Mid): Rs 5.25 lakh
  • XMS (Mid Safety): Rs 5.43 lakh
  • XMA (F-Tronic): NA
  • XT (Top): Rs 5.99 lakh

Diesel Quadrajet 1.2L

  • XE (Base) 75PS Variant: Rs 5.64 lakh
  • XM (Mid): Rs 6.27 lakh
  • XMS (Mid Safety): Rs 6.45 lakh
  • XMA (F-Tronic): Rs 6.99 lakh
  • XT (Top): Rs 6.99 lakh

Let’s start with the base XE variant. The Tata Zest XE misses out on the Car Infotainment system. Other features are:

  1. Wow! Even mid level variants are equipped with ABS alloys. Nothing much to lose. Excellent variants and pricing. All set to steal show from other sedans. Not just for diesel but petrols too. Great Tatas. Now make sure service quality and customer respect is spot on. Otherwise all the efforts in development would go waste.

  2. Awesome interiors. What a dashboard.. will check the car in the showroom..
    Exterior looks proportionate even if the back side is not inspiring – sober good boy design.

    Will comment once I take a test ride and will also decide whether to own this vehicle. After long time seeing a promising car from TATA.
