Mercedes-Benz India today launched the E-Class ‘Edition E’ to celebrate 20 years of the E-Class in India. Since production began in 1995, the E-Class has sold over 32,000 units in India. The E-Class also holds the distinction of the first luxury car to be ‘Made in India’. The Edition E models will retain the Avantgarde trims, while adding new technological and safety features.

The E 200 ‘Edition E’ is priced at INR 48.60 lakhs, the E 250 ‘Edition E’ at INR 50.76 lakhs, and the E 350 ‘Edition E’ at INR 60.61 lakhs (All prices ex-showroom Pune). On the outside, Edition E models can be differentiated by ‘Edition E’ badges, illuminated star logo on the grille, black hub caps, new look fibre-topic tail lights, and an electronic panoramic sunroof with PRE-SAFE closing function.

Inside, ‘Edition E’ models feature SD card navigation, MB Apps, sportier pedals, THERMOTRONIC Automatic Air Conditioning, memory seats with 3 settings, Active Park Assist with camera, and a high resolution color media display (20.3 cm) in the centre console. Furthermore, ‘Edition E’ models also feature the Intelligent Light System that adapts light distribution as per the driving situation. The adaptive systems illuminate the road ahead without dazzling other road users.

The ‘Edition E’ comes with 8 airbags and apreventive occupant protection system as standard. It recognizes critical driving situations and initiates preventive occupant protection measures. The reversible belt tensioners for driver and front passenger seats are activated when a high collision impact/accident is detected. The NECK-PRO head restraints for the driver and front passengercan be activated in a rear impact; a spring mechanism moves the head restraints to reduce strain on the spine. Finally, all ‘Edition E’ models also come with ‘Adaptive brake lights’ that flashes red warning signal from the tail lamps when emergency braking is recognized.
