The Honda Jazz will spawn a crossover called the WR-V soon, and this is the first look of it courtesy an official render from Honda Design. And we must say that it does look promising. The front end design, which is a far cry from the Jazz’s conventional appearance, mixes new age funk with outdoorsy elements like skid plates and cladding. The pointy headlamps, a derivative of the Honda H-face grille (probably the best one yet), and a well-sculpted front bumper with BR-V like cuts round of the fascia.

The sides are reminiscent of the Jazz its based on, apart from the wheel arch cladding and bigger wheels. The rear end will be different from the Jazz as well, while the additional roof rails add to the rugged touch. The interior design is expected to mirror that of the Jazz’s, but will come with differet trim bits. In South America, the WR-V, will be the successor to the Honda Fit Twist, a strutted up derivative of the last-gen Jazz. There, it’ll be available with the 1.5-litre flex-fuel engine combined to a five-speed manual or a CVT.

When the WR-V launches in India next year, expect the car to employ the existing 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. In South America, the Honda WR-V will compete with the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, while in India, it”ll go to head to head with the likes of the Hyundai i20 Active, the VW Cross Polo, the Toyota Etios Cross, and the Fiat Urban Cross.
