Based on the official sketch that was released last week, the Honda WR-V has been accurately by Indian Autos Blog’s Shoeb R Kalania. The Jazz based crossover will come with a completely revised front fascia that includes a chunky grille slat, a BR-V inspired front bumper exaggerated with skid plates, black plastic cladding, and aggressive vents. The pointy headlamps looks particularly neat, and the re-sculpted bonnet is new as well. Moving on to the sides, that’s where the Jazz’s resemblance gets hold of it.

The distinctive slash on the doors stay, while the Jazz’s wheels arches and side sills are now glorified with cladding. The rear end is still under wraps, but expect a host of outdoorsy embellishments on the posterior as well, like  skid plate and probably a tail gate mounted spare wheel. The Jazz’s roof also gets a bit adventurous with the addition of roof rails on the WR-V. In South America, the WR-V will be the spiritual predecessor to the Fit Twist, a strutted up derivative of the last-gen Jazz. There, it’ll be available with the 1.5-litre flex-fuel engine combined to a five-speed manual or a CVT.

When the WR-V launches in India next year, expect the car to employ the existing 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine. In South America, the Honda WR-V will compete with the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, while in India, it”ll go to head to head with the likes of the Hyundai i20 Active, the VW Cross Polo, the Toyota Etios Cross, and the Fiat Urban Cross.
