Regulars here would know that we are really excited about the upcoming Ford EcoSport that would be launched in Indian car market within a couple of months. What excites us the most about the EcoSport is the much publicized EcoBoost petrol engine that is likely to power the high end variants of the compact SUV.
This 1.0 litre turbocharged engine has been winning plenty of accolades around the world and is known to offer a good mix of fuel efficiency and performance. On paper, the motor has performance figures that are easily comparable to those of 1.5 litres normally aspirated petrol engines from most car markers. While the flagship variants of the EcoSport would get the much touted EcoBoost engine, the car will also be sold in India with 1.5 litres petrol and diesel engine borrowed from the India spec Ford Fiesta sedan.
Talking about the Fiesta, Ford recently gave the popular car a facelift and it is expected that the Fiesta facelift would make it to India in early 2015. Now, it has emerged that the Indonesian auto market is slated to get the facelifted 2014 Fiesta hatchback early next year. The updated hatchback will come with a slew of changes for the Indonesian market. These changes would not be limited to the styling and would also include some mechanical updates. One such update for the Indonesia spec Fiesta would be the inclusion of the 1 Litre EcoBoost turbo petrol engine option. For Fiesta, the award winning EcoBoost turbo petrol engine will have a max power figure of 120 Bhp and a peak torque figure of 170 Nm. The inline-3 cylinder motor will endow the car with respectable fuel economy figures.
It remains to be seen if Ford India would bring in the EcoBoost engine option when it decides to launch the facelift in our country.
