BMW provides glimpse of its new Zero-CO2 vehicle: The Concept ActiveE!

Soon after the Mini E was unveiled, BMW has now released official pictures and details of its latest ‘E’ offering christened as ActiveE. The new concept car has been developed after long hours of research, under the initiative of BMW’s ‘Project i’,.

As a part of the ‘Project i’ ActiveE is based on the BMW1 Series Coupe. The concept car will be driven by an electric motor capable of producing a maximum of 170 horses and 250Nm of torque. The car will boast of a lithium-ion battery pack. The battery has been co-developed by BMW and SB LiMotive. With a top speed of about 155kmph, 9 seconds is all that the car will need to hit the mark of 100kmph from standstill. The battery will need about 3- 4 hours of charging to be completely power-packed depending on the power outlet used. The car boasts of a range of about 160km on one full charge.

The concept will be used for further research by BMW with an aim to gather more useful information on how the car performs in the real world. This information will then be used by BMW for its forth coming production E-cars.
