Audi A1 Not Coming to India

The Indian luxury car scene is fast heating up with German biggies planning to bring their luxury small cars to our rapidly developing car market.

Mercedes Benz A Class is on its way to our shores and it is already confirmed that the BMW 1 Series will be launched in the first half of next year.

However, it has emerged that Audi India plans to take a different approach towards becoming the highest selling luxury car maker.

Audi India head Michael Perschke has said,“Our top down model strategy has been successful in India so far. We have successfully sold the top-end A8 stretched sedan and other high-end models to the Indian customers. But we have no plans to dilute our brand by launching smaller cars like the Audi A1 or similar models, even as the competition garners volumes with such offerings.”

We wonder if high sales of upcoming A Class and 1 series might make Audi India re-consider its strategy.
