Allegedly drunk son of Supreme Court lawyer rams Porsche into autorickshaws; kills one

In what is said to be yet another case of drunk driving, an auto-rickshaw driver was killed and 10 others suffered injuries when a Porsche rammed into the stationary auto-rickshaws in Chennai. The incident occurred at Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai when the driver of the Porsche Cayman S, identified as V Vikas, allegedly drunk, was driving back home in the wee hours of Monday.

Reports suggest that Vikas, the son of a Supreme Court lawyer, had attended a party hosted by the Tuti Patriots, the winning team of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) prior to the incident. He was returning home when he lost control of his Rs. 92.2 lakh (ex-showroom) car and hit a divider before ramming into a few stationary auto-rickshaws nearby. The mishap resulted in the death of one person while 10 people were left injured.

Vikas and an unidentified friend who accompanied him escaped unhurt as both the airbags in the car deployed due to the impact of the crash. Police officials reportedly said that the occupants of the vehicle were drunk at the time of the incident. The cops have detained both the occupants of the car while a case has been registered and investigations are underway.
