2014 Swift to get new 1.2 L Dualjet petrol engine delivering 26.4 kmpl!

2014 Swift

The refreshed 2014 Swift range will benefit from an all-new 1.2 liter Dualjet petrol engine in the UK and Japan. The same engine can be expected in India along with the face-lifted Swift when it is launched here sometime this year. It’ll replace the 1.2 liter K12 petrol mill that’s currently employed in the Indian Swift.

This new 1.2 liter Dualjet engine develops 88.8bhp (90PS) and 120Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. Suzuki’s new Dualjet technology employs dual injectors per cylinder as compared to the single injector per cylinder setup used in most fuel injected cars. This new tech results in an increased compression ratio of 12.0:1 compared to 11.0:1 for the current engine, which translates to a boost in power and more importantly, better fuel efficiency. The engine also incorporates EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation)- a part of the exhaust gases are extracted and water cooled to be reused in combustion chamber which lowers the combustion temperature and reduces the incidence of abnormal combustion.

Other interesting tech that goes into this motor are start-stop and brake energy regeneration. With all these new tricks up it sleeve, the new motor will deliver an astounding mileage of 26.4 Kmpl- nearly 8 Kmpl more than the ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 18.6 Kmpl for the Indian Swift!

The new Swift is likely to be launched in November. Click here for more details.
