Skoda to concentrate on big car segment in India

new 2014 Skoda Yeti review (1)

After trying its hands on the hatchback and sedan class of vehicles in India, automotive manufacturer Skoda has decided that it will explore the big car segment in the Indian car market. The decision has come from the Czech car maker after realising uncertain business environment and policies of the country. The company has already pulled off its hands from the hatchback segment in India after discontinuing the Fabia from the country. Skoda has already invested nearly 750 million euros in India but is refraining from making any fresh investments in the country.

Skoda recently introduced the refreshed variant of its crossover vehicle, the Yeti for the Indian market.

The compact SUV space has seen a good growth as many buyers are opting for vehicles from this segment. The sales of products like Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport have attracted other manufacturers to enter the compact SUV segment.

So, for now, Skoda has shelved all the plans to introduce a new hatchback into India. We hope Skoda introduces something soon as competition will keep getting stiffer as time passes by.
