2013 Yamaha V-ixion
The Yamaha R15 received appreciation from industry experts and motoring enthusiasts for being one of the most fun-to-ride motorcycles in the country. The spot-on ergonomics and great stability made it one of the best 150cc motorcycles available in the country. But how about a street fighter version of this motorcycle? A motorcycle that would be as good at handling as the R15 but with comfortable ergonomics.

Well, the answer to the above is the Yamaha V-ixion. The name sound familiar, doesn’t it? That’s because Yamaha has been selling the V-ixion in the Indonesian market for quite some time. The Japanese two-wheeler major will soon introduce the third generation of the motorcycle. The V-ixion shares the frame, engine and many other technical features of the R15. The V-ixion differs from the R15 with the absence of fairing, high raised handlebar for comfortable ergonomics and a single piece seat unit instead of R15’s split seat design.
Mechanically, the new V-ixion V3 is quite similar to the R15 and is equipped with the same 149.8cc 4-stroke Liquid Cooled engine that delivers 16.59 PS (marginally less from R15’s 17PS) of power. The engine comes mated to a five-speed gearbox instead of six-speed unit on the R15. The previous version of the V-ixion delivered about 14.88 PS of power.

Although the Yamaha V-ixion never made it to India and the chances of the third generation model to make it to the sub-continent bleak, we would really like to see this motorcycle on our roads. The arrival of the V-ixion may also intrigue Honda to introduce the CB150R in the Indian market. If the V-ixion comes to India, will you buy it over the FZ-series?
